Elkhorn South is a high school educating about 600 students in grades nine through twelve. In 2013, the school placed second in the “All School” All-State Activities Competition, Class B. This competition recognizes those schools that have the best interscholastic activities programs in Nebraska. In the boys division, Elkhorn South came in third. In the girls division, Elkhorn South came in first. A points system determines the results. Schools are awarded points for participation in district music contests. Points are also awarded for performances in statewide championship competitions.

Black Elk Elementary welcomes students from PK through fifth grade. About 600 students attend Black Elk. In NeSA statewide testing, third grade results at Black Elk demonstrated that proficiency in both math and reading exceed 90-percent. The statewide average in math is 72-percent, and the statewide average in Reading is 77-percent.

Picotte is another highly-ranked elementary school that educates about 600 students in grades PK through sixth. In statewide proficiency (NeSA) testing, 86-percent of Picotte third graders rated proficient in both math and reading, substantially above the statewide arranges of 72-percent and 77-percent, respectively.

Elkhorn Ridge Middle School educates about 700 students in grades six through eight. Elkhorn Ridge is one of the highest scoring middle schools in the Omaha area. In 2012, eighth graders tested on their writing ranked well above state averages. While average proficiency stood at 64-percent, 91-percent of Elkhorn Ridge eighth graders were rated proficient or above.
