If you’re thinking of selling your home, there are a few steps you should take in order to adequately prepare your home for the market. Today I’d like to share a few of them with you:
- Talk to a licensed Realtor. A professional agent will tell you everything you need to do in order to get your home prepared to be sold, as well as the best time to list your home on the market.
- Condition your home early. About 30 to 60 days prior to listing, you should be sure to declutter each room, neutralize any bright paint, throw things away, and begin boxing up the items that you’ll be taking to your next place.
- Determine the right starting price. Talk with your agent about deciding on the best price at which to list your home to maximize profitability. Be sure to also discuss the possibility of price reductions, should your home not sell at the decided-on price in the first 30 days or the first five showings.
- Decide on a post-sale plan. Many times, sellers want to pick the home that they’re going to be moving into before ever listing their current property. Because we are in a seller’s market, many times this does not work out unless a buyer is in a position to put a house under contract while selling their house. We recommend listing your house on the market and getting it under contract before looking at houses to purchase.
If you have any questions about preparing your home for sale or anything else related to real estate, please don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email. I’d be happy to help you!
