The Pros and Cons of Buying a Home in Winter

What are the pros and cons of buying a house this winter? I’ll explain today.

Is winter a good time to purchase a home?

There are a few advantages and disadvantages to buying a home this time of year.

First of all, the majority of homes that go on the market come on the market between March and June. Typically, people gear up to sell their house by the end of summer. If you are buying in the winter, there will be fewer homes for you to choose from.

However, lower inventory also gives you an advantage when it comes to negotiating. A lot of winter sellers are nervous that their homes won’t sell until the following summer.

As a buyer, you will have more negotiation power in the winter.

Depending on the seller’s life situation, they may have to relocate in the next two or three months. It could be very costly for them to have the house sit vacant on the market for six months or a year. These sellers are highly motivated to sell their home this winter.
