Preparing a Home in Subpar Condition for the Market

If you’re preparing your house for the market and it’s not in the best condition, you basically have two options to get it ready to sell.

Should you still put your house up for sale even if it’s not in perfect condition? There are two ways to approach this question.

First, we always recommend that if you have the money, you should make a few fixes around the house like painting the walls, getting the carpet professionally cleaned, or even getting it replaced depending on the condition. You should plan on spending about $2,000 or $3,000 for these kinds of fixes.

If you’re in a situation where you aren’t able to spend that much money for some repairs, we always tell our clients to do the best they can to clean the house up and declutter it. Of course, you must take the fact that your house isn’t in perfect condition into account and price it accordingly.
