Fun Activities to do Around Omaha for the Fourth of July | Platinum Title & Escrow

Independence Day celebrations may look a little different this year due to the coronavirus, but we’ve rounded up some of the best activities to do around Omaha this holiday weekend. If you’re looking to get out of the house for some local fun, check out the events below.

FNBO Independence Fireworks Spectacular

Perhaps nothing is more Americana than a good old-fashioned baseball game. For the 52nd year in a row, the Omaha Storm Chasers will host the FNBO Independence Fireworks Spectacular on Friday, July 3rd, 2020. The show will follow a Corn Belt League doubleheader.

Four teams from the Corn Belt League, an Omaha collegiate summer baseball league, will kick off the night with a pair of seven-inning games. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. the Royal Blue Dogs will face the Rail Riders, to be followed by the Filthballers against the Bombers. Parking lots will open at 4:00 p.m. with gates opening at 5 p.m. The 16-minute long FNBO Independence Fireworks Spectacular is slated to begin at approximately 10:00 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and will go on sale on Saturday, June 20th at 10:00 a.m. Call 402-738-5100 to order by phone or visit the Werner Park Ticket office between 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Stars, Stripes, and Lil’ Tikes Sunflower Patch

Do you have little ones who desperately need to burn off some energy? Nelson Produce Farm has a sunflower patch just for the littles! Let them burn all their energy, fill up their bellies, ride a pony, and get a little dirt under their fingernails out on our family farm.

This is a great event for families with young children. Admission price is $6 per person, and children 2 and under are free! Visit Nelson Produce Farm at 10505 N 234th Street Valley, NE 68064

Firecracker Flight Live 5k

Looking for some healthy physical competition on this 4th of July? Some changes to the event have been made due to the coronavirus. No longer able to run in large groups like a traditional 5k, the event will continue with running in smaller groups. With race modifications for COVID-19, we plan to have a safe race for our participants by running in three different waves. Each participant will receive an event t-shirt and medal. If you can’t attend the live race or prefer to run on your own, you can join the virtual race to run anywhere on your own time and get your race swag delivered right to your door.

Join the Firecracker Flight Live 5k on Saturday, July 4 at Baxter Arena for a fun 5K race. For more information or to sign-up, please visit: https://runsignup.com/Race/NE/Omaha/FirecrackerFlight5k10kOmaha

While many 4th of July holiday events have been canceled or postponed this year, it’s a great time to create new traditions and find simpler ways to celebrate. Backyard barbeques, picnics, and neighborhood block parties are great ways to celebrate America’s Independence Day. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday!
